This simple stove top espresso maker design has been around since 1933.

It has an amazing simple design, delivering espresso without the need for tamping, pumping or even plugging into a power outlet.

In fact, the Bialetti is about as far removed as you can get from today's hi-tech, fully automatic espresso makers.

To be honest, it doesn't give you the exact same result as a $200 machine. You don't get that cream so beloved of espresso aficionados. Nor is the resulting brew quite as dark and strong. The final brew is described as "Moka style" espresso.

If you can put aside your preconceptions about what espresso is all about, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

We use our Bialetti on a regular basis. We don't use it to make straight shots of espresso. But we do use it to make espresso to which we add hot or hot and frothy milk.

Again, I would be hard set to claim we are creating the kind of Latte you will find at your local coffee shop. But this simple stove top machine does make us a truly wonderful brew, every simple time.

Plus, of course, it is ridiculously inexpensive.
